Earth 2062. Half of the planets population has died from a virus with no cure. The males on average, have until their mid to late 30s. And the females on average, have until their early to mid 40s.
Francis didn't make it to his 30s before he was uploaded.
Oh? the upload you ask? 
It was the only way. With every huge advancement made to Virtual Reality within the past 20 years, the logical next step was to upload everyone to The Game Hub before they died. 
But their body would still die. 
So VR was combined with cryogenic chambers. 
now everyone can live forever in the world of games.
