Years after the cordyceps virus decimated civilisation, Ellie, Dina and their adopted son JJ, who is now 7 years old live happily in their country home in Jackson. However, as a new danger rears its ugly head, the town fears that everything will be ripped away from them. And with the news of a cure in the works, Ellie decides to journey to New York to find what the fuss is about. A 23 day walk to New York is dangerous journey and its up to Ellie to survive and save humanity.

Ellie found traveling with Joel to be both rewarding and simultaneously frustrating. It was like talking to a cold, emotionless brick wall sometimes. So imagine her excitement when they run into another group of travelers heading in the same direction, and they agree to travel with Ellie and Joel. The most exciting part? The other group has a girl their age. This is essentially a Ellie/Reader slow-burn fanfiction. It's also a fix-it fic in regards to the Last of Us Part 2 because I have personal issues with it.
