A young woman in an existential rut is tasked with looking after a sentient cloud after a nearly-fatal air balloon ride tethers them together.

Loosely based on the #onc prompt: you thought you still had a chance with your childhood friend, but they're getting married a month from now.

The sky above Port Andrews had always been somewhat of a spectacle. Something about the mirror blue lake and the cotton candy sunsets drew in tourists like insects to sugar. But for Virgo Wright, her life in the small town felt more like a glue trap, holding her in place for eternity, and her family's hot air balloon business was just another thing that kept her roots firmly planted.

On an impromptu solo flight, Virgo finds herself going a little too high and a little too far than she's used to. Surrounded by strange clouds, strange even for Port Andrews. And even stranger still, she's not alone up there.
