Ranboo came out to his parents as gay a while ago. They accepted him of course with open arms but they couldn't find him a worthy husband. The townsfolk couldn't be trusted considering so many of them were willing to fake their sexuality, and anything below middle class was considered unsuitable for royalty.
Ranboos parents decided to bring their sons love life into their own political matters. So they took one of their enemy's child hostage and arrange their marriage.
