Lorraine had always known her late friend Summer to be a kind-hearted person, so when she heard a rumor that Summer had committed an atrocious crime she knew she had to disprove it, and turning a blind eye to the grim truth that the evidence had led her to was not an option.

Lorraine Carter's life turned upside down when her friend, Summer Acosta was murdered. She couldn't think of any reason as to why anyone would harm such an innocent, sweet, and kind person. She was still in mourning when she received a chat message that said, 'Summer had to die.' The sender even mocked her, saying she didn't know her friend that well because she didn't know that Summer had done something terrible. She didn't want to believe it, so she started looking into what had really happened to Summer and who was responsible for her death. But the more things she finds out, the more she wants to ignore it. Secrets were revealed, trusts were broken, and worst of all, lives were put at risk in the process of knowing . . . why Summer had to die.
