Zelia is a proud Brazilian kid, on the cusp of adolescence, trying to be good by regularly writing to her mother. But nothing makes sense to her lately... not the doctors who tell her she's faking being sick, certainly not the neighbours in her apartment block, nor those she meets at her new school, in Buenos Aires. All that Zelia wants is friends and family, to play football without being labelled and for her dad to take her passion seriously. As Zelia journeys through her teens, she discovers that when it comes to identity, she doesn't make compromises.

I chuckled slightly and shook my head. "Does that usually work for you? The cute little remarks and that nice smile." I teased. He gave me a sheepish look of surprise. "Most girls would be flattered at my attempt to flirt with them." I scoffed and shook my head. "Well, as a member of the "most girls" community, I can say that I am not." "Wow. That's a bit harsh." He gave me a smug look and crossed his arms. "Sorry," I shrugged. "I'm immune to boy charms. In fact, I think I'm allergic." "Well, don't think so highly of yourself. Just because you have cute dimples and a pretty face, doesn't mean I find you attractive." ------------------------------ Maya Cameron is a senior at Ohio State University and this is the year where you need to get your life together before you get pushed out into the real world. Writing is the only thing that keeps her sane after all of the trauma she's been though. With her mom and dad's unfortunate death, she's been left under the care of her evil step-aunt and forced to stay with her annoying step-cousin. As if college isn't stressful enough. And then there's this other guy in her life. They met online by accident and have been talking for months but she's not brave enough to make it something real. Will Ashby is the all-around superstar on campus. He's practically royalty because he's the running back on the Ohio State Football team: one of the best college football teams in America. Will is the person guys want to be and guy girls want to be with. But in actuality, he'd rather blend in with the background noise. His only focus has been football and finishing his degree. That was until he met this girl. He doesn't even know her name or what she looks like, but she's the girl he'd want to be real with. Because of circumstances, Will needs an English tutor or he won't be able to play. And much to her dismay, Maya is the perfect person for the job. Started: January 2021 Completed: October 2021

🎧 Title: Mute Genres: Teen Fiction · Mental Health · Friendship · Coming-of-Age Content Warnings: Selective Mutism, Mental Illness, Bullying, Emotional Abuse, Physical Abuse, etc 💬 Synopsis: Thirteen-year-old May Crudence hasn't spoken to anyone but her older brother in years. She's selectively mute, an emotional empath, and tired of being seen as fragile. School is survivable-until Camila and her crew decide it's time to break her silence. Zee talks enough for both of them. Fast-talking, jittery, and always smiling, Zee is May's closest friend... but she's also battling early-onset schizophrenia and hiding a lot behind that grin. And then there's Isaac Panell. Kind, observant, curious Isaac-who may or may not be May's friend. Because sometimes he's laughing with Camila. Sometimes he's apologizing with his eyes. And sometimes, he's just... gone. He's the gay wild card. Three teens. Three truths. One school where silence is dangerous, and secrets are louder than words. 🌙 Characters: May Crudence - 13 years old - Selectively mute - Emotional empath - Speaks only to Owen (her brother) and sometimes Zee - Quiet, sensitive, smart-and so much more than what people assume - Her silence isn't weakness. It's survival. Zandra "Zee" Alinos - 13 years old - Diagnosed with early-onset schizophrenia - Hyper, talkative, and always on the move - May's best (and maybe only) friend - Her voice fills every silence-partly because she's afraid of what she'll hear if it doesn't. Isaac Panell - 13 years old - Gay, emotionally complex - Camila's tagalong... but maybe not by choice - Wants to do the right thing. Doesn't always succeed. - May trusts him. But should she? ✨ Mute is a story about trauma, friendship, betrayal, and what it means to be heard-even when you can't speak. 📚 Updates weekly. 💛 Add to your Library if you've ever felt like the quiet one in a loud world.

Fifteen-year-old Angel has always felt a little too much-too sensitive, too quiet, too different. But when she's diagnosed with autism and ADHD at the start of Year 10, everything begins to make a little more sense. With her sketchbook always close, she starts to untangle what it means to understand herself on her own terms. And then there's Skyler-her "just a friend" who feels like a safe place, who sees her in ways no one else ever has. She says she's just drawing to cope, but somehow, he keeps showing up on the page-his laugh, his eyes, the way he never lets her fall apart alone. In a world that doesn't always slow down, Angel is learning how to love herself, and maybe-slowly, bravely-someone else too.
