Clary Fray had a happy life until she was five, then things got bad. Her parents (Jocelyn Fray and Valentine Morgenstern) got divorced. She went to live her father. Valentine became abusive when she was seven years old. Most of life has been bad for Clary Fray.
One day she's had enough and escapes from Valentine and goes to New York.
Is she reunited with her mother and brother, Jonathan, or does Valentine get her back?
