My weapon slips from my loose grip, clattering on the ground as I allow myself to take a breath before turning to Jen. She looks up at me weakly, a whimper breaking past her blood-filled mouth, struggling to say something. I crouched down next to her, quickly applying pressure to the wound on her gut. She flinches, convulsing, then coughs up more blood. I shake my head, knowing is impossible for me to save her, but I try anyway. "C-Come on J-Jen, stay with me." She trembles violently, but the tiniest smile creeps onto her face. "Th... That's sweet P-Pat...b...but it's just... a dream... remember?" She starts to close our eyes, seeming to accept death. "N-No... No no no! Don't you dare!" My shouting causes Jen to look up at me again. I start to shake, tears lining my eyes. I can't take this. I just can't. "I can't watch you die... not again..." She stares at me for a moment, about to speak when something behind me catches her attention.
