Magic in the Mountains

Sadie McDaniel is a 12 year old girl who lives in the small mining town of Coalwood, West Virginia. She experiences a tragic loss early in her childhood, and she is raised by her mother, Charlene. Through the trials and tribulations that she faces as a young girl, Sadie Mae finds refuge with her grandmother, Eliza.

Eliza is no ordinary grandmother. Throughout her life, Eliza has utilized the forest and the Appalachian Mountains to provide her with what she needs. Her bond with her granddaughter continually grows as she shows Sadie the way of "Granny Magic" and utilizing the tricks and traditions that have been in their family for generations.

As a new industry moves to town, Sadie's home and life as she knows it finds itself in danger. Sadie and her grandmother team up with the backing of local lore and legend to change the hearts and minds of the executives that see no value in the hills and hollers that Coalwood has to offer.
