Olive had spent her entire life in Alaska. But now she's 13, and has to live with her father in Texas. Her Mom and Dad divorced when she was 1, her mother taking her to Alaska. Now Moms dead because of cancer. And she has no one else to go to but her Dad. In Texas, she learns to love the new world around her. The people, the landscapes, and her Dad. But then, her Dad married a woman named Lillian. Lillian has a 8 year old daughter named Rose, who always wants to start something with Olive. Dad and Lillian always favored Rose over Olive, sending Olive into a dark place. She wants her Mom. She wants to go back to Alaska. But she can't, it's not possible.
    
    
     One day, Olive buys a train ticket to Alaska. She tries to leave, but she didn't even make it out of Texas. She gets lost in a town miles away from Dallas, and doesn't know how to get home. Her phones dead, and she spent the last of her money on food and water. Suddenly, she runs into her Dad. He was so happy to see her, apologizing to her every single second.
