The nature of pestilence is something Dr. Crowfeather knows well. An indiscriminate killer, it does not discriminate or judge, it simply wipes out everything. Yet for him, it takes more than one form. Such as a noxious, horrible ghost that pesters him on top of creating epidemics. Despite their natural clashes, he isn't without a disease of his own. One that doesn't affect his body, but the state of his soul.

Then turned around just in time to hear it click shut again. Standing just inside the entrance was a blackened thing. Humanistic in shape. However what it could be was left up for question. Since it was covered in sludge. The grisly thing is that the creature was dragging a limp woman by the hair of her head. Hadlin could barely whisper. "Mom..." It dropped the body. Then stalked towards Hadlin. Was he going to die? What is going on? Taking a second look the creature, and the dead woman were gone. Just like awaking from a bad dream.Complete

The AUs he has spent so long protecting are rebelling and are soon to be destroyed, but worst of all, all of the Sanses hate him for some reason. And I mean ALL. Why should he continue? There's nothing to live for anymore. Not even his family can help with this. Or, the people he thought to be his family.

(edit) I forgot to add that this started out as a confessional journal about becoming clean after a 10 year + addiction to OTC cold meds, but that was not my style of writing, I liked the material so I wanted to expand it into a novel length work featuring the journal elements. To say this work is a roller coaster would put it lightly. Although there are elements of time travel I would consider my sudden transitions reality travel. I use actual experience and dreams as a foundation, then toss in some fourth wall breaking narratives (meta-fiction), with a sprinkling of facts and quotations from songs and factual articles. It tends to be written similarly to an essay sans the boring. I have been influenced strongly by Vonnegut and W. S. Burroughs , and a wide variety of album rock, and that bleeds through. The tags dystopian and dark humor describe the whole piece best but there is a lot of genre jumping. I've done a good deal of research, not just for factual things but for the type of writing I do. Although not technically fan fiction, there is a nod to Final Fantasy games. The cover photo is a shared copyright, Brian Barbour took the photo, I added treatments.Complete
