Arya Adinata always saved Maria in the most vulnerable times of her life, and he would stop at nothing to make sure she was happy.

In 1912, Arya, the two-year-old grandson of a Regent in East Indies, found a baby in a basket, abandoned in front of their home. The female baby was then raised by the Adinata family and they called her Maria. Arya and Maria grew up together and were very close.

Arya had been in love with Maria, almost for his whole life. He had never seen her as a sister.

After Maria graduated secondary school, as was the custom back then, she was supposed to be held at home in seclusion waiting to be married off. This made the autistic but genius girl very upset. She very badly wanted to become a doctor.

Arya tried to think of ways and did whatever it takes, to keep Maria in school. He succeeded to fight for her to continue her education after sacrificing three years of his life in an agreement with their grandfather, the Regent. He saved her again.

However, after high school graduation, Maria was set to marry an old Regent from another district, to become his third wife. And this was when Arya realized that desperate times called for desperate measures.

What would he do to save Maria from their old conservative family's clutch, during the time of Dutch colonization? Back then, women had no rights and were basically the property of their fathers and husbands.

How could he save her again and ensure she lived a happy life... even without him?
