An elite team of human death machines known as ATRIUN, works to put an end to the widespread terrorism which plagues a semi-dystopian world in which much of the world is in devastation and poverty while the few countries still economically stable enough to stay members of the United Nations live in luxury and excess, fostering resentment and hatred from the less fortunate. In the middle of a routine sweep of a coastal oil rig suspected of being used as a house for weapons of mass destruction, the team comes upon evidence which suggests that there may be much bigger forces at play than was initially suspected, and it just might hit a little close to home for one of the agents. Meet Albatross, the purple-eyed, raven haired, Deutschland born protagonist, sassy sniper, and covert operative with no real name; who frequently satirizes the corrupt society she works for and excels at cracking skulls due to years of practice experience. Her quick wit and commanding personality coupled with a death dealing skill set Liam Neeson, Solid Snake, and James Bond would all be jealous of makes her the most dangerous member of her team of terror hunters, and she likes it that way. But there's something afoot that's bigger than anything she's ever faced before, and if things keep escalating like they seem to be, it's only a matter of time until it's World War IV. Here's something I didn't realize when I started writing: If you like Ghost in the Shell, this is for you. "This is something that's got me hooked." ~@DatWuanGuy "You're vision is stunning. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up with the great work." ~Ka Lia Lee Image credit goes to: meganerid@deviantart.com

A secret program in the United States seeks to replace human militaries with artificial intelligence-driven machines, but the machines aren't so willing to play along. *** Picture a world where humans no longer fight wars. No more families missing loved ones. No more veterans with lifelong mental and physical scars. No more conscription. For the super-secret End of War Project inside the United States government, such a reality is already here. The project models out how artificial intelligence can overcome dangerous and morally sensitive war scenarios with algorithms and automation. The centerpieces are "autonomous combat machines," or ACMs, that look like humans but function like supercomputers. After a string of brilliant successes in the field of combat, the End of War Project is preparing to reveal itself to the public, but something unusual stands in the way. Against their programming, the ACMs start exhibiting all-too-human signs of apprehension, guilt and compassion as they're pushed to perform ever more extreme tasks. The human leaders of the End of War Project race to find who "hacked" the ACMs, but what they find is even more startling--and revealing--than they could ever imagine. ***2019 Watty Award Winner - Science Fiction***
