After demons from another land attacked the kingdoms of humans, they darkened the sky with their corrupted magic. Only the holy Church stood in their way and prevented the downfall of humanity.
Young Aurel knows no life before darkness and has admired the Church for its deeds for as long as he can remember. Together with his best friend Magne, he wants to join the ranks of the Church to become a hero, fighting the demons and freeing humanity from it's opression.
But he soon finds that being a hero forces him to make decisions that have him rethink his life so far. Will he make the right decisions and fulfil his dream, or will he be shattered by the dangers that lurk in the darkness?

Along the way Quinn finds more than he ever thought to seek: purpose, fulfillment and love. Lord Evander has her attacker arrested and takes Aurora to his home, a large estate. Aurora settles in comfort in a safe new world and believes being on the other side everything is perfect, but again, she's wrong, and Gharet isn't finished with her. He goes as far to rope the church in and have her returned to him. She battles a tiring fight struggling to just have a peaceful life. Can she, or will she be trapped by Gharet forever? Many centuries ago, an unspoken darkness swept across the land taking all that was light and pure in the world with it.
