It's 1996.
Two years ago, Rocket went through the biggest upheaval of his life - both of his parents were killed in a completely unpredictable car accident while on their way to business trip.
Now at 19 years old, his godmother Angela has taken him far from his home in Cornwall, England all the way to the western shores of California. She might be going through a bit of a mid-life crisis. Rocket doesn't mind; he barely had anyone back in England who would miss him anymore and they both deserved a good change.
Having been engrossed in the surfing scene of Cornwall, Rocket meets new friends in the largest surfing cultural hub on the planet and, one night on the beach, spots a particular interesting person.

It's not long before the two start noticing each other everywhere.

When Brody challenges his stepfather who tries to rape him, his "step-loser" as he calls him has his revenge by throwing acid in Brody's face. He will do the things he still wanted to do, and eventually as soon as he is done with his bucket list, commit suicide, releasing the world from the most horrible face it has ever seen. For now, all he has to do is keep on the mask of humour so that nobody will suspect what he is really planning... And off course he needs to keep on the phantom mask in public as not to scare all the children in the streets. But that's okay... Isn't it? It's fun pretending it's Halloween all year long? It is however when Brody meets E.J. next to him in the hospital that Brody needs to make a different decision. E.J. has been raped by his stepfather for many years, but he somehow keeps a positive outlook on life. Maybe inviting E.J. on the bucket-list-road-trip of a lifetime with him will keep Brody from jumping at his last stop. Will Brody be able to figure out the emotions inside him when E.J. is close before he jumps? There wasn't really anything all that special about me. I considered myself an average person with average looks. That being said, I also considered myself a very gaunt person. I was sort of a nerd. Not like a big 'ooooh, look at him, with his glasses, pocket protector and retainer', I of course had never worn any of those things. I'm a quiet type of nerd . Quiet, as in my only friends were people who weren't exactly as bad off as me, but you know, they weren't the most popular either. One girl, Jade who I considered to be an overachieving busybody. She was always trying to improve her already perfect average self while meddling in other peoples business. I also had a guy friend named Alex. He was almost like me, which made us the perfect best friend. He was also pretty popular, even though he hung out with me. Neither Jade, nor Alex were terrible to look at. In fact, sometimes I wondered why they weren't even more popular than they were. Jade is a model, tall with long black hair a perfect body and nice sized tits. Alex is perfect.
