Marinette can't do it anymore. Juggling being herself, the guardian, and Ladybug was just too much. She needed to shed one of those responsibilities, and she knew just which one to pass on.
You always try your best to impress, though things never go your way. When Marinette tells you she can't be Ladybug anymore, you offer to take on the role for her. It's a lot trying to match up to her, but you need to try for Paris.
Chat Noir is upset. He knew he and Ladybug were drifting apart, but it hurt to see that she'd give up her miraculous to someone without warning him first. The new bug seems nice, but he's having a hard time adjusting to the sudden change.
