Nathaniel Everton is the son of the Duke of Oxford. When he finds out that his father has arranged and marriage between him and the daughter of an old friend. Despite his fathers wishes to be nice to her he is anything but he treats her coldly. He believes her to be like all the ladies who want him for his money. He didn't want to marry a silly debutante girl. Lady Eleanor Audley doesn't want to marry. Much less an arrogant jerk who treats her like air. Unfortunately she must live with him and his family for a few months before the marriage will take place. She promised herself when she was younger to have a love match no matter how rare they where, she simply didn't want to end up like her parents. Yet despite Nathaniel attempts to I gore her he cannot get the grey eyed beauty out of his mind no matter how he tries, she seems different and Eleanor grows fonder of the Duke's son every day. Can the two set aside their differences and fall in love? Or will it be a loveless marriage?

When they are all invited to stay at Wimbledon manor, home of the noble Bradford family, she is strictly instructed by her aunt to make herself scarce as her cousins try to charm lord Bradford into proposing marriage. But fate keeps putting him in her way. When a mishap in the stables leads to a scandal, she is forced to be betrothed to lord Bradford. She fiercely refuses to accept such a fate for she knows deep down that a man of rank like him cannot truly love a girl like her. But lord Bradford wouldn't accept her refusal and makes her a counter offer which she accepts with reluctance. They will stay engaged till the end of summer and quietly break-off the engagement afterwards to avoid scandal. But will they break off the engagement or will they fall in love? Only time will tell
