Despite his fathers wishes to be nice to her he is anything but he treats her coldly. He believes her to be like all the ladies who want him for his money. He didn't want to marry a silly debutante girl. 

Lady Eleanor Audley doesn't want to marry. Much less an arrogant jerk who treats her like air. Unfortunately  she must live with him and his family for a few months before the marriage will take place. She promised herself when she was younger to have a love match no matter how rare they where, she simply didn't want to end up like her parents.

Yet despite  Nathaniel attempts to I gore her he cannot get the grey eyed beauty out of his mind no matter how he tries, she seems different and Eleanor grows fonder of the Duke's son every day.
