Yua Tokito was only eight years old when her oldest brother Yuichiro died. With no one left but her estranged older brother Muichiro, she trains to become a demon slayer alongside him. However, due to her very young age she is kept from going to final selection, not just because of her age but mainly because no matter how hard she tries to master it, Yua cannot use the Mist breathing technique like her brother and thus sees herself as a disgrace to her legendary bloodline, the Tsugikuni bloodline from which the first breath user was born. With her brother becoming Hashira at 14, Yua is forced to train harder than ever.

Eventually the Master allows her to try out for the final selection and here she meets the kind hearted Tanjiro Kamado who for some reason decides to watch over her. Only when she witnesses him about to die at the hands of a mutilated demon does she unleash her true power. A breath style thought to be lost in time together with its twin, Moon breathing.
Having formed ties with the Kamaboko squad, Yua fights to protect her friends, avenge her dead brother and save her last remaining family from the demon lord, Muzan Kibutsuji.
