Leo Newall has spent years putting his own life on hold to care for his disabled father. When Co-Life Industries sends an advanced new android to their home, Leo expects another emotionless machine programmed to follow orders.
But Xander is different.
He plays the piano as though he can feel the music. He responds to kindness. He asks questions. He makes choices. And then, without explanation, he calls Leo by a name that belongs to someone else: Rudy.

I saw a small group of kids from the group standing out by their cars who would easily be able to see what we were doing...or at least what Leo was doing to me. At that moment, my mind started wandering to all the things that I could be doing to him right now...but I stopped that train of thought, immediately, as it started heading to all the wrong places...
