Karl and Sapnap are both living in North Carolina in their early twenties. Karl is a drop-out university student, meanwhile Sapnap is an attending university student.
Karl lives a life fighting against himself every day, filled with brokenness and anger towards himself. Sapnap lives a life somewhat full of distractions and happiness.

As Karl and Sapnap grow more and more attached, a shocking discovery takes a toll on one boy's mental health, and this leads to a strained and unpredictable relationship between the two.
