Hayden Lovelace can't think. Her brain is always far away, even without the illegal pills she takes. Things that normally should be associated with each other are not. Connections aren't made. Her mind is faded, no matter if she's on drugs or not. The pills help her calm down when her parents fight, when she has horrible flashbacks that involved the boy that did not want to be saved, or when she saw Finn, a boy she was hopelessly in love with but has distanced himself from her.
When Rowan Parker moves back into town after spending months with an aunt, Hayden is shocked to see the difference. Gone is the hurt, abused boy that she had saved before he left. Here was an attractive, sweet mysterious boy that would knock her off her feet.
But when she heard the shots inside her school, she discovers that the outside might look different, but that does not mean the inside is. She learns that unhealed, untreated trauma that is brought to the surface could make a person lose all their progress. She learns that maybe, just maybe, if she had woken up long enough to see the signs, this wouldn't have happened.
This story is about a girl with an empty soul and a foggy brain. A broken bullied boy. They share a past that will bind them together forever-after all, she's the reason he's still alive today. But he didn't want to stay alive.
And he wants revenge.

Coming of Age is about the tragic experiences some teenagers go through and many others are aware of. The story explores themes like identity, ambition, love, trauma, forgiveness, free will, and redemption. Sensitive subject matter like drug addiction, extreme poverty, abuse, and violence are touched on, but in an honest, non-exploitative way. The story is based on my experiences as a teenager dealing mental health issues and the people I knew. Writing is my way to raise awareness of the issues I went through. I want to speak to people who can relate to my story and bring understanding to those that don't.

When Forest meets Atlas, he can't believe he's never noticed someone so perfect for him, and Atlas just can't believe someone like Forest is even talking to him. They fall helplessly in love, creating a bump in the plan Forest's parents laid out for his life before he was even born. With a drug lord for a father and an addict for a mother, Jade Taylor has been dealt a pretty shabby hand in life. Her childhood was spent in a constant state of fear, her only solace being her two half-sisters, Charlotte and Bailey, who were forced to live the nightmare alongside her. Her father finally got caught when she was seven and for a fleeting, white-hot second, it seemed that things were going to be okay. She should've known better. She should've known that her mother would jump ship, choose the drugs and not the daughter. Suddenly left abandoned, navigating the murky waters of life in care, it took a little while longer for Jade to find her place in the world. Now, finally, she has. At the age of eighteen, Jade is counting down the days before her exams are over, excited to spend the summer with her two best friends and boyfriend. Unfortunately, things don't always go according to plan... not in a town like Greencliff. The question is... which way will she fall? (This description is a work in progress and may be subject to change!)
