Because her best friend Brent Turner is the biggest player in school. Kayla deals with the hardships of having a best friend like Brent everyday, from snide comments from the girls to boys being to scared to talk to her because Brent doesn't like it.
Not only that but soon her and Brents family are going away together for a years cruise leaving her and brent alone living together. With Brent brining countless girls home and constantly going out Kayla gets more and more jealous.
