In the year of 4068, the world was simply not the same. All of the effort taken place from previous years to protect the environment had gone completely to waste. There was no longer room to worry about anything except for mankind, so all other living organisms were left with little room to live, forests hardly seemed to exist for thousands of miles in some areas. In larger cities, pollution and a lack of oxygen emitted from trees made it hard for humans to travel. Cars did not drive past the houses, there were no sounds of commotion from the outside world. Gas masks had to be worn if it were absolutely necessary to leave. And with the advancement of technology, it wasn't necessary. School for children was taught online, and most everyone worked at home. Couples met online and talked through video chats and never met until they were married, and children were not able to leave their parents until they found a partner. Food was restricted, and delivered by robots to a dropbox in the house. Life was simply not the same. The country formerly known as Greenland was the only place on Earth that was chosen to be uninhabited. This land was left simply for previous experimentation that led to nuclear despair in many areas. And as a result came many unnatural mutations. Though it seemed to be a fictional fairy tale erupting from a novel or movie, it seems that the supernatural was suddenly possible. For years going unnoticed became a newly evolved cousin of humans, nicknamed the anihu. These creatures held the appearance of a human, but had the ability to shift into forest predators, as a result of mutations. The fear of the unknown always had taken control of mankind, and of course with the new super relative, humans of course did the same. But when police were sent across seas to exterminate and capture these strange animals, they were terribly unsuccessful.

𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨: 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘴, 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳'𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯! Tragedy can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere, and the saddest part about that truth is that tragedy is unavoidable. No one can prevent a natural disaster from happening. No one can prevent death from knocking on their doorstep - if it's an accident, or a sickness - it cannot be prevented, and it cannot be avoided. You never know on which day tragedy will come knocking on your front door. You never know who it would strike next - if it would be you, or someone else, or someone who is very close to you. The thing is, with tragedy, it doesn't ask questions before it strikes. It just does. River and Sophia were two people who experienced the same tragedy: loss, but their stories were very different from each other, but they shared the same pain of losing someone they loved, someone who was close to them. And now, suffering the aftermath of their tragedies - living with the guilt, the regret, and the grief of losing someone that was close to them, they have to try to overcome everything, before their tragedy ruins their lives forever. But will it bring them together or would it just be another terrible tragedy? [ word count 130K - 145K ] [ comments does contain spoilers ]
