The thing is, she died. Maybe. She might of died. But now she's somehow entirely someone else, someone from a tv show nonetheless.

To say that dying isn't her goal here would be a lie. She would prefer being reborn as someone else, anyone else really, she'd probably prefer to be reborn as a kitten.

Kittens are cute and cuddly. Plus, they get to laze around all day. What more could she ask for?

Instead here she is seemingly stuck as Elena Gilbert.
But, she's not timid and she has a habit of laughing at the worst of times she's been told. This could end up being lots of fun!

I DO NOT OWN TVD/TO. This will be AU and NOT follow the plot.

"Say it." He growled. "No." She hissed struggling against his iron grasp. "Say. It." Elena let out a strangled cry as he grabbed her chin roughly, arching her back at an odd angle, to meet his gaze, with her pathetic mouth she whispered. "I'm yours." *** Elena Gilbert wasn't sure when she had stopped feeling human. Maybe it had been the moment she lost her family. Or perhaps it was the night she held Bonnie in her arms as her best friend bled out, watching the life draining from her. Whatever the moment was, Elena knew that she wasn't the same person anymore. There was no going back. The girl who had once lived for love and family and light had disappeared somewhere between grief and bloodshed, leaving a shadow of herself in her place. She had tried to fight it-tried to hold on to her humanity, to her hope-but it was slipping away faster than she could ever admit. The blood didn't help. The liquor didn't help. The one-night stands certainly didn't help. Nothing helped. They all just buried the pain deeper, allowing her to walk through the motions of life without actually feeling anything at all. And that was the way it had to be. Because if she started feeling for even a second, she would fall apart. [rough draft] A reimagining of the original: OTDL
