Heal my Scars

I followed her downstairs to the kitchen in bare sight.

She hugged dad like she always does, in a tight embrace.

She put on her fake smile and laughed out so loud.

They ate on the table were once four people sat.

Dad seemed so happy, yet tired and sad from the nightmares that pulled him through life to this point.

But he could never guess what happened to his precious daughter that day.

Or even the days before when she suffered worse.

Because she wore a beautiful mask that hid her true self away.
