"I used to have nothing. And then I got this. This job. This family. And I'm... I'm better because of it."

Natasha Romanoff sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone, never fully realising the weight of grief she would bring her families. And so when Steve Rogers has the chance to bring her back by exchanging the Stone for her at Vormir, he doesn't even hesitate. But little does he know, she won't be the same person who had jumped.

A story in which America's favorite Captain gives a new life and family to a five-year-old girl who has suffered well beyond her years... During an intense Hydra-disassembly mission, the Avengers are able to successfully detain countless Hydra personnel, as well as several of the evil agency's test subjects. But in the midst of the harrowing scene, America's favorite Captain is asked to investigate the final holding cell in the experimentation lab. There, he finds a small child huddled fearfully in a corner with a blindfold over her eyes, a complete contrast to the other prisoners who were all super-built, raging with anger, and ready to fight. Over his earpiece, the other Avengers are able to offer Captain scrambled bits of information they've all gathered about this mysterious creature, referred to as simply "Girl." But when she's brought back to the Avenger's Headquarter's to be further investigated, he finds out that there's much more to this little girl's story than anyone had initially imagined. With the seemingly complete elimination of Hydra, the heroic group are offered more freedom and time to make real lives for themselves. But Steve Rogers has formed a soft spot for a certain fellow ex-test subject. Along with the help of his friends, will he be able to help Girl heal and find hope for her future? And what will happen when Girl's dark past attempts to catch back up with her? [Trigger warning: physical, emotional, and sexual abuse of a child.] [Spoiler alert: This fan-fiction will include many unavoidable spoilers to most of/if not all the films in the Avengers series. When Steve went to return the stones, he's not only bringing the stones with him but the slightest hope of bringing Natasha back. No one really expected how easy to get the sacrifice back opposite to how hard it was to get the stone, but no one's gonna complain on getting Natasha Romanoff back, it was what everyone wanted. After Steve got Natasha back they sat down for a moment and talked about the possibilities of Steve staying in his original time. What happens if he stays, how will it affect Natasha? "You're thinking of staying..." she was stating more than questioning. "I'm not sure Nat... I got a new life here..." "But that's not the life you wanted..." Steve turned to look at Natasha for the first time since they talked about these possibilities. 📌 Completed: Dec 2019 📌 Slow Edit: 2021 April ⚠️ First story written in full English. English is not my first language thus, this will have a lot of grammatically incorrect sentences. ⚠️ No background or knowledge in story writing thus, I used wrong the tenses. ⚠️ Not a comic reader, this is plainly based from mcu movies I've watched. ⚠️ This story is united. I might edit to correct some grammars but not now and when I do, please know that it would still have grammar errors. 📌 Lastly, thank you for giving this story ad much attention as it got. I never expected I'd get 20K reads. The last parts are rushed though, but still I got some votes and I'm very thankful. 💕
