Iris has lived in California her whole life. Everything she knows is in San Fransisco--her friends, her hometown, and the fresh wound of the car accident that took her parents life. 
     Up until a few months ago, Iris had just been a normal teen. But on the fourth of July, while her parents had been driving home from watching fireworks, they collided with a twelve-wheeler and died instantaneously. With no known close relatives and no time to grieve, she's shipped off to foster care where she picks up some... perilous coping mechanisms. 
      Two months later, a relative is found--Ben Carter, her father's estranged younger brother. He's deemed somewhat suitable to be her guardian, and thus, Iris is shipped off to the outskirts of Maine, where she meets a strange boy with obsidian eyes and sparkling skin...
