Onwa 'Lsios, a young Sangheili, is a mere seven months from mandatory enlistment in the Covenant's military. 

The Covenant is comprised of many different species. In the year 2524, a  single-manned Human freighter came in contact with a Covenant ship piloted by the Kig-Yar, one of the alien species that makes up the Covenant. The Human and his freighter are never heard from again. In the year 2525, a Covenant ship makes its appearance over the planet Harvest. Peace talks have failed. This is war.All Rights Reserved

He aggrees, but his request is harshly denied and he and several other aliens defect to the humans side just in time for the invasion by the Ecarian Space Navy [ESN] of Earth... Quick description of the Ecarians: They have claw-like hands, pupil-less eyes of any color, and hair that can be any color and/or color combination.
