Feel the rush of magic as it travels through your arms out your finger tips. I rush through the woods hearing and sensing the monsters behind me. "They are gaining on me!" I thought. With blazing speed I flip myself over a small wall of stones. All the while throwing a flaming dagger in the direction I thought they were in.
Through the bushes I see a faint red glow as the mechanical monster raises up on its hind legs.
"Oh shit! I'm screwed." I picked myself up and continued to run only to trip over a rock that I swear is out to get me.
The monster, tall in height when on its hind legs was pretty low to the ground when on all fours. Yet it had a misty darkness clouding itself from view and preventing any light from escaping.

The Dark Side
A click sounds from somewhere and within seconds everything around me sets on fire. I step back and hear the roaring flames from all around me. But, when I step back there's a harsh gust of wind in my direction. I glance behind me and see the fire open up a like a trail. Without much thought about the strange occurrence of events, I turn and begin walking that way. As I walk the fire continues making a trail for me to walk until I quickly stop. I'm at the edge of a cliff and ahead of me is burning land. Trees burn to ashes and all of the greenery burns until there's nothing left, but a large creature. The IX. My eyes widen as I step back, but the flames appear behind me, stopping me. The IX turns to face me. His eyes are empty holes. This time I don't make any sound. I stand tall atop the cliff and feel something in my hand. I look down in my hand and see a dagger in my hand. The creature roars loudly, before running towards me with frightening speed. I hold the dagger, ready to throw it. Once it's basically right in front of me, I throw the dagger. It slices through the air, straight towards the creature...Complete

I flinch as his hand reaches to my face, and aggressively pulls down the cloak from my head. He surveys my tear stained face and jewelry all the way down to my dress. Jasper stiffens in his seat as I press the metal of the blade against his back. "Don't say a word. Come with me, right now." Of course, he doesn't listen. I had hoped a dagger to the kidney would be incentive enough, but even the threat of death doesn't graze a Devereaux ego. He turns toward me to argue, facing away from the goon that's been eyeing him across the bar. I doubt he even noticed. The man whispers something to his sketchy friend, pointing at Jasper. No time for discussion. I grab his arm and press the tip of the knife harder, just barely breaking the skin. He winces, realizing I mean business, and gets up. The idiot prince seems to finally get the memo, running alongside me until we're a safe distance away. "What the hell was that about?" his ragged breaths take the sting out of his words. I've never seen him like this before. Cheeks red, chest heaving, hunched over himself on the stump of a tree. For once, he looks like an authentic person. Of course, this is merely an illusion. Jasper Devereaux is an arrogant, entitled dirtbag, nothing more. I can't believe I just jeopardized my favorite trade spot for him. He demands to know why I pulled a knife on him instead of just telling him he was in danger. I explain to him that the reason for the dagger was glaringly obvious if you consider the way he acted when I did use it. Betty?" I called, hoping for a response, only to get none. I didn't even get the slightest whimper from any of them. What the heck happened? "Mom?! Betty?!" I screamed this time, trying to push myself up onto my back, my leg killing me so much that I had to give up. I laid back down on the ground, placing my hand on the bottom of the table; anger, fear, confusion getting the best of me. I screamed as I banged my fists on the wood table. "MOM? BETTY?" Nothing. I was ready to bang on the wood again, but I flinched back when I heard the sound of moving rubble. Whoever it is was almost near where I was, and ... moving quickly. So, there's no possible way that it was a human. It would take hundreds do men to lift these boulders, but whoever this person is, is stronger than anyone I would kn- My thoughts froze as I watched something large wrap around the edges of the table, lifting it up; my eyes widening as I came face to face with the largest creature known to mankind. The nuclear plant 15 times that of Chernobyl blew its top. The initial explosion flattened Brazil and the shockwaves were felt from the Florida keys. But the thing that truly ruined the world was the nuclear fallout. it rained down everywhere turning the world into a desolate wasteland deserts for miles and miles. Now you live in districts to survive, but what's the good in just being a number. Why would you look forward to a future of infant nothing, can you run from that? Where would you go? Where have the people who have escaped gone? Is that a future? What if there's someone who got left behind? I don't know if I died or not, but the moment I regained my consciousness, I was already standing on a field full of grass and surrounded by trees. "W-what is that...?" They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest.
