Two worlds that have been consumed by war are about to come together. 

In one world  the year is 99 AG and a peculiar structure appears in sea catching the attention of the Fire Navy, which gets noticed by the Fire Lord. For nearly 100 years the Fire Nation has reined supreme, dominating the other elements thanks to their modern military force. Still hungry for more, and with the appearance of this structure they might just get their wish for expand further than they ever expected. 

In another world the Global War on Terror or aka War on Terror is still young and is currently popular on 2 fronts. In 2007, Iraq & Afghanistan share the spotlight on stage for current conflicts but another opponent will soon be added that stage. For the 1st time 6 years ago NATO invoked Article 5 to go into Afghanistan in response to the September 11th attacks. Now again another incident happens where the use of Article 5 is appropriate and NATO allies will be adding another enemy to their list, this one being bigger and stranger than anyone would've thought.

A/N: I do not own Avatar: TLA or anything related to that, neither do I own Gate (this is not a crossover with Gate). I do however own the OC made for this story

Heimat: a place that you can call home; a sense of belongingness, acceptance, safety and connection to homeland A decade has passed after the final battle between the Avatar and the Fire Nation, a decade after the defeat of their Fire Lord. It is a time of prosperity for most, but the crimes commited during the war couldn't be reversed. Benders were taken away from their families, people were slaughtered, their belongings, homes and land taken away. This, had been the instance when it came to the northwest part of the Earth Kingdom, that had went on to become the Fire Nation colonies. They collaborated and cooperated in order to live and so they got richer, learnt to depend on each other for their survival. By the end of the war, the people, even though they came from different backgrounds, were one. A decade after the end of the war, the Avatar is commanded to solve the matter of whether the former Fire Nation citizens need to move or not. Aang believes the nations need to be separated. The people in the colonies do not, hatred starts to grow in their hearts. The Avarar will need the help of a companion more than any other time, and there is no better person to aid him than the secret waterbender that's part of the Fire Nation fleet, the woman who risked her own life to get him to safety, even though this had been the first time they had met in their lives. NOTE: Any characters that do not appear in Avatar: The Last Airbender belong to me. The atla universe belongs to the creators.

What's at first just orders will slowly come to change the young Colonel's life and his relationship with Pandora, his son, his enemies, and the RDA forever. Part 1 in the Avatar, A New Mission series. This large, slow-build story is essentially an Avatar 3 (with heat and flare!) through Miles Quaritch's eyes after the events of the Way of Water and continuing his parallels with Jake Sully. The story really expands to a movie-sized scope as it goes on. Features Miles' existential crisis and also flashbacks to when Spider was with the 1st Recom Unit. Recoms Lyle Wainfleet and Mansk are also greatly developed. Did my best to be logical and reasonable with the in-movies set canon, and sequel foreshadowing. There are a *few* instances of eventual smut, but there are content warnings and it is kindly written to be skippable if that's not your thing! : )
