On April 23rd, the first of twenty-three mysterious letters arrive on author Maureen Hemingway's doorstep, requesting her to compose a novel about the sender's life. Initially, Maureen pushes the unanswered letters aside, but as her suspicion grows, so does her curiosity. So she writes back. But the sender never answers her letter. Six months later, Maureen reads an unusual obituary in the local newspaper which sparks her own little investigation. Maureen finds herself laced up in the sender's suspected murder and the seemingly endless supply of falsehoods that lie beyond the surface.
