She always believed in fate.
After two eventless years, Jackie finally gets over her long-term crush Ari when he graduated high school and began studying in a different city. Everything is going fine: it's her senior year, she's satisfied with the people who are in her life, and her parents finally gave her the a-ok to pursue an acting career.
When Jackie is instructed to personally choose a novel for an English independent study unit, she asks her friend Jonathan to randomly fish a book out from the pile provided. She calls it no coincidence that the book Jonathan picked for her just so happens to be the same novel Ari read and studied last year (discovered via book-tracking record). As soon as Jackie opens the cover, there are notes and passionate analyses dated last year scribbled everywhere. She thought she was over him; but as she digs deeper into the novel, Jackie not only falls in love with the storyline, but her feelings for Ari begin to reciprocate. This time, she's not going to waste the opportunity. Jackie wants to make something happen; whether it be her downfall or the highlight of her entire high school career.
