In the steampunk era, Kasumi had been transferred to many different orphanages. Her last transfer was branched into the Todoroki palace.

That was where she met prince Toya.

Scars and trauma from her childhood lived on with her for many years after she started working in the detective agency.

Forced on a mission to part from her hermit life, she crossed paths with a serial killer by the name of Dabi.

Albeit, he would have killed her if she were anyone else. The thing was: he couldn't kill his parasite.
