Isaac Sharpe has won.
Or rather, he has won his first victory. With Phoenix safely in hand, he needs only to placate his rivals in the Camarilla, and appoint a new and loyal Prince of the city. With these steps done, Isaac Sharpe will have a true bastion. A safe realm from which to grow his army, and make further plans to enforce his plans for peace at any cost.
But few Kindred are willing to stand aside and allow the ambitious Ventrue to claim still more power. And while the Camarilla may be swayed, old enemies in the fanatical and ruthless Sabbat now seek Isaac's Final Death. The pieces move on the board, and times are shaping for yet another clash of wit and blood. Yet for all its horror, it will be just another night in, The World of Darkness.
(Note: This is a sequel to my earlier novella, The Blood of Israel. It is fanfiction in that the general lore, power systems, and supernatural terminology belong to The World of Darkness setting and the associated owners. But the characters, the actions they take, and the stories they make: are mine.)
(Extra note: This story was originally written as an entry in the 2022 Open Novella Contest #ONC2022. It makes use of prompt 5: A soldier always has two options when at a crossroads: to follow orders or abort the mission.)
Ari and Soren's adventures continue as Soren struggles with his new vampiric urges and a coven of witches attempts to recruit Ari for their own ends.
*****
As dark dreams plague Soren, Ari finds his new abilities difficult to control. Something is awakening within him, and as his power grows, he attracts the attention of a group of witches who call themselves the Hecataeon. They believe Ari is an emanation of the goddess Hecate - a physical manifestation of her power - and they want that power for themselves. With their relationship facing challenges from within, Ari and Soren must find a way to unite their strengths before external forces tear them apart.
