A shipping container is a metal box with openings on each end that can carry and stack other items, usually loaded from the top or one side. Shipping containers come in dozens of sizes and variations to accommodate different requirements; they may be purpose-built or used as a conversion unit. The most common shipping container is 20-foot wide by 40-foot long by 8-ft tall standard steel container weighs about 20 tons.
