At only eighteen Dorian is the youngest knight of Aredale, and the protector of Prince Nisias.  However, their relationship goes much deeper than just that of a prince and his knight, Dorian and Nisias are in love.    But when Dorian is struck down in a centuries old battle between the light Aeredale and the dark Valmoor, it seems as if Nisias will never again see his knight.  

Fast forward eighteen months, and Aredale is facing a new, even greater threat known only as the Black Rider.  A man who single handedly has slaughtered thousands of the Aredale soldiers sent to kill him.
