Time is never on our side.It just keeps ticking. Moment's memories gone
just like that. Time we don't get back; but, what if you could. What if you
never aged? I never believed in magic or the devil. But, I guess you can't
deny anything you haven't actually seen. Yes I've seen the devil and I do have
magic. Though I wish I didn't. They call it a gift but I call it a curse. Why
you might ask, well everything comes at a cost. And I paying the ultimate
price. It all started the day I met the black cat.

Meow. I looked to the black cat. It just sat there looking at me. Then I heard it speak
in my mind.

"Anastasia Hemingway, you have been chosen to
receive a gift of your choice." Said the black cat. My eyes widened in
surprise. The cat actually talked.

"What's the catch? Black cat?" Anna asked. The cat tilted its head to the side.

 "Your soul."

When you experience the worst thing you could ever imagine, how do you react? - "The water looked so tempting under me as I stood there in the dark. The splashing sounds as the waves hit the stone calmed me down and I took a deep breath. Yes. This was it. I closed my eyes and took one step closer, feeling the curb under the soles of my shoes when I stopped again. Then my heart started pounding when I heard the sound of an angry engine behind me, a screech and a crash. I turned around, gasping, ready to pick my phone up from the ground to call for help- but what met me was a pair of soul-searching golden eyes. In all his twisted glory, he stood in front of me, his precious motorcycle's engine still going as it laid on the ground behind him. Only the brave learns to test the waters amidst the labyrinth of its knotted mystery. PLEASE, NO PLAGIARISM. (~Created July 6, 2018:Finished August 5, 2018~) Being engrossed in studying his current case detained him from leaving at once until he forgot the time. He never mentioned to Hera that he's going home after two decades. Only his youngest child knows of his trip back home. Whether he believes in curse or not. It's his 45th birthday tomorrow and he must be home to keep his promise to his mother. His family had never forsaken him, he did. He'd been ignoring their summons since he turned his back from them. Perhaps it's time to grant their plea. He closes his office and walks to the elevator. "Good evening, Artemis." The man in a black jacket greets him. Artemis smiles at the stranger. "Do I know you?" The stranger puts his arm around the stunned lawyer. Behind the unknown man's dark glasses are bloodshot eyes ready to scare the wits out of his prey. "Your mother does. She's expecting me to greet you happy birthday." Removing his dark glasses, he stares at his victim to corrupt his eyes. Insurmountable fear assaults Artemis as excruciating pain drills on his eyeballs. A horrible scream slits through the silence of the night when the clock strikes twelve. As the elevator opens, the stranger loosens his grip and the victim falls on the floor. Covering his bleeding eyes, Artemis winces from severe pain. The man whistles away as he walks past the dead body of the security guard in the lobby to the snowy road outside the building. His victim crawls out of the closing elevator. The curse is true. He must get into his car before his sight totally leaves him. He must warn his family. " I must save Athena!"

The night is dark. There's no moon, no stars. We rush through the thicket of the woods. The sound we hear is the pounding of our running feet. We run into low hanging branches, fighting against them until we stumble until a clearing. My partner grabs my arm and leads me down another path. "Wait! Where are the others?" I shake my arm from their grasp. "Where are they?" There was a stillness to the dark woods. The type of stillness that holds danger within its shadows. "They'll be fine!" I get pulled back down the path that I was being led to anyhow. "They know what to do. They won't find us if we stay separated." I ran alongside my hidden pair. The moon is at its peak at night. It shows us the way. "It's not him I am worried about, Sunistral. It's her." I hear a sharp breath behind us. I swear it was! But it was disguised as a searing gust of cold wind. When I looked back, there was nothing. Just an endless pit of darkness. It was then that I knew that it had found us. This dream somehow finds me ever night. And every night I wake up in absolute confusion. I have no memory of my parents or where I came from. The only true constant of my existence is the visits that my nightmares make at night and during the day. I have yet to understand the echos of them. Until I find myself where it all began: at Pearl Academy.
