Julieta is the eldest daughter to a middle-class family in 1830s Mexico. She is in love with Alejandro. Alejandro is in love with Yesenia and Yesenia has made it clear that she intends on marrying Alejandro. All is well until a Julieta and Alejandro are arranged to be married.
