Romance
Laika, a fourteen year old astronomy enthusiast, who when asked could name you all the stars in the sky is moving to Alaska. Her new home is a town trapped in an endless winter, with mountains covered with snow and lakes frozen over, the natural beauty of the town seems to stun her while everyone she meets takes it for granted. Laika suddenly realises that the only good thing she is getting out of this move is a chance to see the stars, something she barely got to do against the brightness of the city lights of London, against that she has to start a new school trying to fit in, which is hard when your personality is as cold as the snow on the ground, survive against frequent blizzards and come to terms with who she really is, asking questions about herself she had never thought of before. It seems like the stars are the only thing she has as an escapism towards her new life and the only thing she has to keep her from running away, or is it? *Curently going through A LOT of editing*

'I had never been a big city girl. Born and raised in the small state of Oklahoma, I much preferred the simplicity of home.' Yi Xuan never thought she'd leave behind the open skies and quiet rhythms of Oklahoma, but life has other plans. When her family uproots to New York City, she's suddenly thrown into a world of crowded streets, buzzing lights, and a high school that feels more like a jungle than a community. Between navigating new friendships, unexpected rivalries, and the overwhelming pace of city life, Yi Xuan must find her place while holding onto who she truly is. Along the way, she discovers love in the most unlikely places, stumbles through heartbreak, and learns that sometimes new beginnings mean rewriting your own story. (there are also copious amounts of references btw)
