Finn and Brie ended up being the best of friends in the most unlikely place, a foster house. Both being sent there when they were a few months old, they literally spent all their childhood together. But as they got to an age where they started having feelings for each other, things start to get difficult. Finn ends up getting adopted by a couple, who lives halfway across the country and leaves Brie all by herself.
After wasting 18 years of her life in the orphanage, Brie finally came to the age where she is able to fend for herself and gets gracefully kicked out. Homeless and cold, she buys a one-way train ticket to Florida to get a new start in life.
As secrets start to unravel, she meets people she never thought existed and finds a familiar face she was hoping to see again.

Astren City, and all surrounding area, have the highest crime rate in the northern part of the country. Dozens of crime families constantly trying to take the throne, as well as corruption lurking around every corner, do not aid in that fact at all. Salem Heart's father, Jack Heart, happens to be the Astren City Chief of Police, a title which holds a lot of weight and a rank that claims even more power. He thinks it's a win-win situation, he gets the recognition he desires, and the streets will be that much safer. It's all black and white to him, easy to understand. He likes the order, and he craves the accomplishment of defeating bad with good. It's all black and white. Until he gets caught in the grey.
