Ellis Tracey is the ideal student, daughter and friend. With a solid education, and presidency of her graduating class, it is up to Ellis to host fundraisers and improve the atmosphere of the high school. In the midst of planning her senior prom, Ellis becomes close to star of the Ripley High basketball team, Sammy Wilkinson. The two are an unlikely pair, and everyone is thrown for a loop when they announce their relationship due to Sammy's reputation for being a heart breaker, unlike Ellis. She has a delicate heart that is no match for the disastrous storm that lingers with him.
