The Life of Uganda's Independence Hero Ali Hasahya

When ten-year-old Ali Hasahya left Butaleja in search of education in Buganda, little did he know that he was embarking on a path that would contribute to his country's independence. Fighting his way through the shortfall of poverty and awkwardness, he finally found himself among the first Members of Parliament of the post-independent Uganda. This book takes us through Ali's political participation in a very volatile political environment at the peak of the rivalry between President Apollo Milton Obotes Uganda People's Congress and the Democratic Party's (DP) Benedicto Kiwanuka. His tenure in Parliament was defined by sacrifice and service above self. Today, he lives a life of abject poverty but is contented his sacrifices, like turning down Obote's offer of a cabinet position in favour of a hospital for his people continues giving him untold satisfaction.
