Aboard the crew of the Fireball XL5, we have Colonel Steve Zodiac, the incredibly brave and handsome hero of the day. Dr. Venus, the ship's doctor of space medicine, secretly shares a love life with Zodiac. They are both joined by the genius Professor Matthew Matic, who although may seem a little eccentric, is a brilliant scientist and vital member of the crew. It was he who invented his highly advanced creation Robert the Robot. Occasionally, the crew is joined by Dr. Venus' pet Lazoon, who enjoys making chaos and causing havoc on the ship...

Reporting to their superiors at Space City, the disgruntled Commander Zero and the youthful Lieutenant Ninety, Steve Zodiac and his friends are about to engage in their most important assignment in their careers. As such, the entire fabric of the universe hangs in balance when tensions between alien races stretch across the galaxy, creating dangerous political instability and an impending space war about to break out.
