A brave, normally calm soul, Ella Waters,  lives on Seapod 5, one of the many biodome city structures, set out thousands of miles on the sea, away from what once used to be habitable land. Ella is content in her highly structured Sea-podian society, but deep inside her is an urge to learn more about the ailing past, and to see if the history books accurately display former times. Are the Eels, the Sea-podian leaders, keeping secrets from their Sea-podian citizens? Is there more to see than what appears to the naked eye?
