The dead typically want one of two things. Ghosts crave conversation. Spirits seek pain. My name is Bria, and I've been able to interact with the dead for as long as I can remember. Communicating with the deceased might sound like a cool gift, but let me assure you, it's not. Ghosts don't shut up, and not all specters are friendly. In fact, most of them are dangerous. Pretending the paranormal doesn't exist is far easier than talking to the shadows, so I've been avoiding the dead for years. Past experiences have led me to avoid the living too. "l'll tell you a secret" I said to my friend almost whispering, she leaned closer then looked at me interested. I sighed heavily before speaking. "I see dead people" I said truthfully but she just laughed out loud in return. "You're Crazy" she said tapping my forehead. "Am I?" I asked myself. I'm saying the truth, last time I remember I was drag racing and when I woke up I see dead people. Including the most beautiful girl, no I mean ghost and She's hugging me from my back while laughing as well. It's supposed to be freaking scary but how come I am enjoying it? "I must be really crazy" I mumbled to myself then sighed again heavily. "Yes you are" the ghost girl replied then poked my cheeks, Unfortunately I am the only one that can see her.. You find yourself neglected as a human citizen of the world. No one likes to talk to you and often turn away under the excuse of being an abnormal weirdo when you first comes to town. You turn up with weird markings all over your body and the worst part is you have no memory of that. Or your previous life. And then you turn up with the best part of your life. You meet a handsome hunk and he is the first guy who ends up asking you on a date... And soon your story unfolds into a horrific misfortune for a life... what makes it worse is that you have a plan and with that plan on the side, you see someone has the legacy to follow your footsteps and you can't do anything about it. It is your job to save your life and their's too. Thirteen Points of Light
After a night on the town, Sarah wakes up to a miserable hangover. But it's nothing compared to what comes next. After attempting to light a cigarette, she feels that something isn't quite right. Soon she'll discover that everything is very wrong. My entry in the Open Novella Contest III, Feb 2020. April 28. Just got the news that Thirteen Points has made it through the second round. Now I have to finish by May 5th. I'm not as far along as I had hoped at this point, but I'm sure I can make it. May 4th. 12:10 am. Finished. Submitted. Good night. May 20th. Well, 13 Points made the Long List. I have no idea how many original entries there were but about 940 made the first cut. There's 150 on the Long List. Not bad for my first time out. Now we'll wait and see how we fare on the Short List. May 30th. Well, Sarah and company didn't make the Short List. I can't say I'm disappointed though. Please, try not to hate her. She's just a girl, after all. She's still figuring things out and doesn't understand what love truly means. She's never learned how to love or be loved. It's not entirely her fault. Others should have tried harder to understand her instead of blaming her. They left her feeling abandoned and labeled her as a monster.
