[A Harry Potter fanfiction] "I cannot begin to apologize for the pain I am about to cause you..." Brianna writes as she prepares to leave her baby on her best friend's doorstep and end her life. Leaving nothing for her child but a single tear, she passes her pain on to Elizabeth, who is awakened in the morning by the baby's cries. Concealing the child's dark past from all but her husband, Elizabeth raises the girl as her own. But secrets cannot remain forever, and when it comes time for the child to head off to Hogwarts, a forgotten past may come back to haunt her.
