Edward Masen believed he would never find love again after losing his beautiful fiancee, Elaine Scott, to Spanish Influenza. When he caught the disease, he was ready to join Elaine in the afterlife. However, he didn't expect his mother, Elizabeth Masen, to convince their doctor, a vampire named Carlisle Cullen, to change him into a soulless creature.

Even though Edward should be furious at Carlisle for separating him from joining his beautiful fiancee in the afterlife, he figures he deserved living in endless hell for not protecting the love of his life from the horrible disease that took her life.

Almost eighty-seven years have passed since Edward has become a vampire. He has gotten accustomed to seeing Carlisle as a father figure and the other Vampires that joined their small coven as his family.

A new year has begun, and Edward believed the town of Forks would get much duller. However, that changed when he heard the thoughts of those around him about two new students attending his High School.
