Shuyin is a college student who works part time as an assistant at Xiasheng Corp. to rake in a few extra bucks to pay for all his needs. Charming and tall, Shuyin fits every girl's image of an ideal type, and he doesn't let this attribute go to waste. In between college, work, and fooling around with girls, he doesn't have much time to himself at all. One day at work, his co-worker pesters Shuyin to visit a coffeehouse after his shift ends. There he encounters a beautiful and talented pianist, Zhenshi, who sometimes performs sweet melodies for the customers of the coffeehouse to hear. Captivated by her beauty and talent, Shuyin finds himself wanting to become part of her world... except it's not that simple.

It appears that Zhenshi is mute; she doesn't talk to anyone. As Shuyin pursues after her, they begin to exchange notes and letters as a way of communication. Zhenshi tells Shuyin that she dreams of becoming a famous pianist and composer; but when Shuyin encourages her to fulfill her dreams, she reveals the secret she hides behind her smile.
