Hermione knew her mother had hated the thought of her daughter going back to Hogwarts, after what had happened there, even though she and her husband could got protection of the order.

Hermione told her mother, that Hogwarts was save, but after seeing her mother's face, she made up a tiny tiny lie. A lie she thought no one would ever discover. And now? Three years after the war, four days before start of the winter holidays, Hermione Granger had a huge problem...

Ron is being stubborn... still thinking he would have a shot at Hermione, who... is absolutely and under no circumstances into women... definitely not... (someone may hoist a sarcasm flagg at this point)
