Shane Kerrick meant to break up with Anissa Newton the day she died in his place during a school shooting. Because of it, he never got to tell her he hooked up with his childhood friend Natalya Burns the night before. He has no idea how to shake the traumatic experience off except to escape it altogether.

Bianca Jones wasn't just there when it happened. Her younger brother Byron was the shooter, and he went after Shane for a reason. Natalya was his girlfriend. After he shot Anissa, he killed himself. Bianca blames Shane for her loss, but it doesn't solve anything. The easiest thing to do is to follow through with the only solution sure to end it all.

The two meet when they both attempt suicide. But without meaning to, they save each other. And in the aftermath of the shooting and suicide attempts, maybe both of them will get a second chance.
